The Bordeaux Chair is constructed of "barge board," a wood that has had many lives in the past. Barge Board was originally poplar or pine cut down in the central United States and built into barges to ship materials and goods down the Mississippi River. Once the barges reached their final destination in New Orleans, they were disassembled and then repurposed to build the homes around our city. The boards were then turned into these chairs after the homes were demolished and the boards reached our shop on Bordeaux Street.
